Villisca Axe Murder Expert and Filmmakers appear at West Des Moines Library "Iowa Files" May 17

   

On the morning of June 10, 1912, the peaceful town of Villisca, Iowa awoke to horror. Josiah and Sara Moore, along with their four children (Herman, Katherine, Boyd, and Paul), and two young overnight guests (Lena and Ina Stillinger), were all found brutally murdered in their home. The killer had used an axe, likely Josiah Moore’s own, to bludgeon the victims while they slept.

On Sunday, May 17th, 3PM in the Community Room at the West Des Moines Public LibraryDr. Edgar V. Epperly, author of the popular true crime book Fiend Incarnate: Villisca Axe Murders of 1912 will be joined by Emmy-Award winning filmmakers Kelly & Tammy Rundle of Fourth Wall Films whose award-winning 2004 documentary Villisca: Living with a Mystery explores the crime’s aftermath in the small Iowa town.

 
 
Author Dr. Edgar Epperly is joined by filmmakers Tammy & Kelly Rundle on May 17th. 


The West Des Moines Public Library is located at 4000 Mills Civic Pkwy, West Des Moines, Iowa.  

This joint library-Historical Society event is free and open to the public thanks to the support of West Des Moines Historical Society Members and the West Des Moines Library Friends Foundation. 

All Iowa Files programs will be live streamed on the West Des Moines Historical Society’s and all videos will be closed captioned. They will also be uploaded to their YouTube channel after the event takes place.
